Kansas was recently rated as having the best highways in the entire United States.*
This underscores the Kansas Department of Transportation’s aggressive plans over the past 20 years to upgrade roads throughout the state. Fortunately GPIP is located on U.S. 400, the major east-west route through southern Kansas – a route that is also listed as the No. 3 Congressional Priority Corridor in the U.S.
This super-two lane, on four-lane right-of-way provides a hint of what U.S. 400 will look like in the future. Already plans are being made to turn the eastern most 28 miles that connects to I-44 into a four-lane, limited access freeway.
