Southeast Kansas Housing

Housing in southeast Kansas follows the trend of small Midwestern communities with vintage turn of the 19th century homes, post World War II housing and newer homes less than 20 years old, making up the higher priced homes. The average owner occupancy rate is about 71% with most rental units located within the towns. The State Median value of housing units was $107,800 putting Labette County significantly below that at $43,900. The median rent in the county is approximately $397 per month. Sales of homes over $120,000 have increased by more than 150% over the past four years.

The local real estate market is served by two nationally recognized companies and several local companies of varying sizes.
