Labette County is rich in natural resources with: 1) Big Hill Lake with boating, sailing, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and horse trails; 2) The Mined Land Recovery Area for fishing, hunting and hiking; 3) Lake Parsons and the Neosho State Fishing Lake located just north of the county line. The Neosho River runs through the county and is bounded by scenic parks, the most beautiful being Riverside Park high on a bluff overlooking the river in Oswego KS. Oswego is the home of the Labette County Fair and is the county seat. Southeast Kansas is blessed with a group of wonderful active community auditoriums with reciprocal concert agreements. One of those is located in Parsons and is a 1500 seat acoustic auditorium which currently schedules performers of regional and national acclaim.
While in Parsons visit the National award winning, vibrant downtown, selected as one of the five best in America. Stop at one of the local shops for a delicious snack before touring the Iron Horse Museum linked to the early days of Parsons and the Katy (Missouri, Kansas, and Texas) Railroad or the Parsons Historical Museum.
Within two hours of the County are major metropolitan areas with National Events or relax at one of the many resorts in the area.
