Utility Rates

  • Electrical power is provided by WESTAR from their Kansas nuclear plant at Wolf Creek.  This has traditionally kept the rates lower than the surrounding area. Regulators allowed a rate increase in 2007 that put rates at 5.26 cents per Kilowatt Hour.
  • Natural Gas is provided by the Kansas Gas Service and is currently adjacent to the plant. Gas is also substantially lower than the surrounding area at $7.67 per 1000 cubic feet. The facility also holds Air Quality permits for a select number of #5 fuel oil boilers that can be transferred.
  • Telecommunications: We are currently studying the communication requirements at the plant and will install new state of the art system (probably secure wireless) in the near future. Fiber optic cable is available to the site.
  • Potable Water, Industrial and Sanitary Sewer are provided by the Industrial Park with rates being an additional incentive.
  • Non potable water can be provided from the many ponds and small lakes on site.
  •  Storm Water Drainage retention and detention are required and generally provided by the Industrial park.
  • Solid waste services are available including a permitted contaminated waste incinerator located on site to process contaminated medical or similar waste.
