Great Plains Industrial Park Enters Alliance with The Boldt Company
Industrial park partners with national construction firm to expand power generation capabilities
PARSONS, KANSAS (March 23, 2026) — Great Plains Industrial Park (GPIP) is advancing its long-term growth through a strategic alliance with The Boldt Company to support its expanding industrial park in southeast Kansas. This agreement establishes The Boldt Company as a strategic partner, providing expertise in construction and infrastructure development, including power solutions critical for future tenants.
As a strategically positioned industrial park in the Midwest, GPIP offers infrastructure-ready sites, multimodal logistics access, progressive sustainability initiatives and is a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). As the owner’s representative, Boldt will ensure that all projects meet GPIP’s standards for quality, design and efficiency, helping to deliver faster, cost-effective solutions while maintaining the GPIP's high standards for industrial development.
“Boldt’s support over the last two years has been tremendous. Their experience in large-scale power and industrial projects aligns with the vision we are implementing at GPIP,” said Brad Reams, Executive Director of GPIP.
In 2025, GPIP initiated a comprehensive power study and engaged Boldt to support the technical evaluation of existing infrastructure and define a potential large-scale power investment. This project allowed GPIP to prove a “Path to Power” for prospective tenants.
GPIP’s power strategy, referred to as the "Power Quilt," outlines a diversified approach to achieving industrial‑scale power. The concept outlines a roadmap to deliver multiple sources of power generation, such as fuel cells, solar, natural gas-fed combined-cycle generation and potentially small modular reactors (SMRs).
“Great Plains represents a unique industrial opportunity, and we look forward to supporting GPIP as it brings new power generation and advanced manufacturing capabilities to the region," said Nate Skinner, Boldt Site Executive at GPIP.
This alliance builds on the momentum GPIP has generated with innovative partners such as Deep Fission. The advanced nuclear energy company announced GPIP as the site for testing and commercialization of its nuclear technologies in 2025. Specializing in placing small modular pressurized water reactors in boreholes one mile underground, it's one of 11 companies nationally authorized by the White House for this fast-track commercialization testing.
GPIP is the only host site not affiliated with a university or national laboratory, highlighting the park’s unique position in the power landscape. Pending authorization from the Department of Energy, Deep Fission’s goal is to be ready for commercialization in 2026 at the Kansas location.
Formerly the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, GPIP spans thousands of acres and has direct Class 1 rail access. Tapping into Boldt’s deep power, energy and manufacturing construction expertise will set GPIP and its tenants up for growth for decades to come.
About Great Plains Industrial Park (GPIP)
Great Plains Industrial Park (GPIP) is a 6,800-acre industrial site in Parsons, Kansas, well-positioned for large-scale manufacturing, logistics and advanced power generation projects. Formerly the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, the site was transferred to the local community through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program as part of a long-term industrial redevelopment initiative. Today, GPIP’s heavy industrial zoning, Class 1 rail access and extensive infrastructure capacity, allow companies to move from concept to construction with exceptional speed.
GPIP’s recent power study and its “Fastest to 1GW” campaign underscore the park’s ability to deliver significant new power generation, which is becoming an increasingly important advantage, as reliable energy becomes a defining factor for modern industrial investment. With abundant land, streamlined permitting, and a forward‑looking approach to diversified power solutions, GPIP offers a rare combination of scale, speed, and power readiness that positions it as a premier destination for the next generation of industrial and energy innovators.
